Position Overview
A growing outdoor and landscape-lighting supplier is seeking a proactive, technically knowledgeable individual to support customers, sales and daily operations.
This is not a general retail position. Applicants must have direct lighting-industry experience and practical knowledge of outdoor or low-voltage lighting installations.
Students and recent graduates may apply, but they must already have relevant hands-on lighting experience and full-time availability.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance to contractors, landscapers and homeowners
- Recommend suitable fixtures, transformers, wire and accessories
- Assist with transformer sizing, system loads, voltage drop, wire selection and troubleshooting
- Prepare quotations, sales orders and invoices
- Process payments and cash out customers accurately
- Prepare, check, pack and organize customer orders
- Follow up on quotations, leads and customer accounts
- Develop new sales and contractor relationships
- Complete local deliveries when required
- Maintain accurate inventory and customer records
- Assist with showroom displays and product demonstrations
- Handle multiple responsibilities and take initiative without constant supervision
Required Qualifications
- Direct experience in the outdoor, landscape or low-voltage lighting industry
- Hands-on experience installing, servicing or troubleshooting lighting systems
- Knowledge of transformers, wattage calculations, voltage drop, wire sizing, LED fixtures and lighting controls
- Customer service, counter-sales or technical-sales experience
- Strong computer skills and comfort using invoicing and point-of-sale software
- Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
- Proactive, dependable and able to take ownership of responsibilities
- Able to safely lift and carry products weighing up to approximately 50 lb
- Valid Ontario G driver’s licence
- Full-time availability
Assets
- Electrical education, apprenticeship experience or related technical training
- Experience with QuickBooks, Shopify or inventory-management software
- Experience working for a lighting supplier, contractor or electrical wholesaler
- Knowledge of smart lighting, dimming systems and lighting controls
- Existing relationships with contractors or landscapers
