Job Purpose:
The Bookstore Coordinator supports the efficient day-to-day operation of the bookstore by delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a well-organized, customer-focused retail environment. This role is responsible for accurately processing sales and returns, maintaining inventory levels, product ordering, and supporting effective merchandising and visual displays.
Working closely with the Bookstore Manager, the Coordinator provides operational and administrative support, including coordinating orders, assisting with inventory control, and contributing to the implementation of new initiatives and projects. The position also serves as a key point of contact for customers, students, faculty, and university departments, ensuring inquiries are addressed promptly and professionally.
Through strong attention to detail and a collaborative approach, the Bookstore Coordinator helps ensure smooth store operations, supports business objectives, and contributes to an overall positive customer experience.
This position will be looked at as the Bookstore Manager successor when deemed applicable.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Providing excellent customer service in all areas of the bookstore.

Handling all sales transactions according to established procedures on a computerized POS register.

Taking prompt action to correct any errors in transactions or pricing.

Processing refunds, returns and exchanges of textbooks and general merchandise according to established policies, while being attentive to the benefit of the bookstore operation and customer satisfaction.

Working alongside the Manager to resolve any problems that may occur.

Responsible in ensuring the pricing tags are accurate.

Maintaining and stocking merchandise on counters and shelves.

Handling telephone inquiries.

Accepting and signing for deliveries.
-
Unpacking and confirming quantities.
-
Notifying the supervisor of damaged goods, short shipments and substitutions.

Entering receiving information into the POS.

Reporting low general merchandise stock to the Manager.

Maintaining the PO/invoice/receiving files for the general merchandise.

Packing textbooks to be returned.

Preparing documents for shipment.

Maintaining record of the returned goods.

Assembling course packs by photocopying and coiling the materials.

Coordinate with university departments and students as required.

Maintaining the general merchandise computerized data files.

Preparing accurate daily cash deposits.

Assist the Bookstore Manager with other relevant tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:-
Proficiency with standard office software and retail management systems.

Education and Qualifications:-
Post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field is required; equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience handling cash, point-of-sale systems, and ensuring accurate financial transactions and reporting is required.

Experience with inventory management, merchandising, and sales analysis is an asset.

Minimum of 2 years office and/or retail experience is required.

Ability to pass a clear criminal background check is required.
Work Conditions-
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Full-time, student-facing, on-campus position.

Mix between sitting and standing. Able to stand or sit for long periods of time.

Long periods of monitor exposure.

Ability to lift 50 lbs.
