Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Tandem Truck Driver to join our dynamic logistics team! In this role, you will operate tandem trucks—large, multi-axle vehicles designed for heavy-duty hauling—delivering goods efficiently and safely across various routes. Your expertise in commercial driving, mechanical knowledge, and customer service will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Duties
- Safely operate tandem trucks to transport freight between distribution centers, warehouses, and customer locations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo using forklifts or other equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of goods.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally with clients during deliveries and pickups.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or mechanical troubleshooting to address minor issues during routes, minimizing delays.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, vehicle maintenance records, and compliance documentation as required by transportation authorities.
- Follow all safety protocols, traffic laws, and company policies to promote a secure working environment.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for tandem truck operation.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably with tandem or multi-axle trucks.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance and automotive repair.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely when handling cargo in loading or unloading scenarios.
- Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor during interactions with clients.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, transportation laws, and best practices for heavy-duty vehicle operation.
- Physical ability to perform inspections, load/unload cargo, and handle equipment as needed.
