Job Overview
Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Bradford is seeking an energetic, results driven, and relationship focused Sales Manager to join our opening leadership team. This role is responsible for driving hotel revenue through corporate, group, sports, leisure, and local market sales while building strong relationships within the community and surrounding business markets.
The Sales Manager will oversee all aspects of hotel sales activities including prospecting, account management, group bookings, contract negotiations, revenue opportunities, and market development to maximize occupancy and profitability in alignment with Marriott brand standards and hotel goals.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve hotel revenue and occupancy goals
- Identify and actively pursue new corporate, group, sports, government, leisure, and local business opportunities
- Conduct outside sales calls, networking, site visits, and client meetings regularly
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, organizations, sports teams, and travel partners
- Represent the hotel at community events, trade shows, and networking functions
Group Sales & Account Management
- Manage group inquiries, negotiations, contracts, room blocks, and catering opportunities if applicable
- Coordinate with clients regarding rooming lists, billing details, arrival information, and special requests
- Ensure smooth communication between sales, front office, housekeeping, and operations teams for group arrivals
- Maintain strong relationships with repeat clients and key accounts
- Monitor group pickup, cut off dates, and revenue opportunities
Revenue & Market Analysis
- Monitor competitor pricing, market trends, and local demand generators
- Support hotel revenue strategies and pricing initiatives in coordination with management
- Analyze occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and sales performance reports
- Identify opportunities to increase market share and hotel visibility
- Assist with forecasting and budgeting related to sales performance
Marriott Systems & Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate account and sales activity records in Marriott sales systems and CRM platforms
- Prepare weekly sales reports, production reports, and activity updates for management
- Ensure all contracts, proposals, and agreements are completed accurately and professionally
- Follow Marriott brand standards, SOPs, and company policies
- Assist with online reputation management and local marketing initiatives if required
Relationship & Guest Experience Management
- Ensure excellent service delivery for all group and corporate clients
- Resolve client concerns professionally and promptly
- Conduct hotel tours and presentations for prospective clients
- Collaborate with hotel operations teams to ensure successful execution of group business and guest satisfaction
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Previous hotel sales experience preferred
- Experience with Marriott branded hotels is an asset
- Hospitality, business, or sales related education preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong sales, negotiation, and networking skills
- Excellent communication and relationship building abilities
- Ability to work independently and achieve sales targets
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Professional and outgoing personality with strong presentation skills
Technical Skills
- Experience with Marriott sales systems, PMS, or CRM systems is an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Understanding of hotel revenue management concepts is preferred
Additional Requirements
- Flexible schedule including occasional evenings or weekends for events and client meetings
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally for sales calls
- Ability to work in a fast paced hospitality environment
