Position Overview
Guesthouse Shelter is seeking a motivated and reliable Food Service Worker (Summer Student) to support daily meal preparation and kitchen operations. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program and provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a supportive, community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with meal preparation and food service for shelter residents
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas
- Follow food safety and hygiene standards
- Support inventory organization and food storage
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
- Provide respectful and compassionate service to all clients
Qualifications
- Must be under 30 years of age (Canada Summer Jobs requirement)
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible
- Previous food service experience is an asset but not required
Assets
- Food Handler Certificate
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Experience working in community or shelter settings
