Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and hands-on Service Technician to join our team at Access Abilities. This position requires a skilled individual who can diagnose and repair both manual and powered home medical equipment, including power wheelchairs, hoyer lifts, stairlifts, hospital beds, and other mobility and assistive devices.
As a Service Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our clients’ medical equipment is functioning properly, contributing to their comfort and safety. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment both in our shop and at client locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair a variety of home medical equipment, including but not limited to power wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, hoyer lifts, stairlifts, hospital beds, and other mobility aids.
- Conduct thorough inspections and tests to identify issues with equipment functionality.
- Perform maintenance and preventative service on equipment to extend its lifespan.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and make necessary repairs.
- Provide on-site service calls to residential and healthcare facilities, ensuring that equipment is properly serviced and operating safely.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and in full working condition before delivery or pickup.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of service tasks.
- Maintain accurate service records and report on completed tasks.
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to company standards while working with medical equipment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in servicing medical equipment, or related field, is preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems, mechanical systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to work with both manual and powered equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality service.
- Ability to lift and move equipment, sometimes weighing over 50 pounds.
- Comfortable with both in-shop and fieldwork, including travel to clients' homes or healthcare facilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with clients and team members.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with mobility equipment brands and models.
- Experience in providing customer service in a healthcare or technical environment.
