We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Activationist to join our team in a long-term care setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for enhancing the quality of life of older adults through meaningful activities and programs tailored to individual needs. This role requires physical stamina, flexibility in work hours, and a resident-centred approach to all duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, developing, and delivering engaging activities and programs for residents.
- Encourage and support resident participation, fostering a positive and empathetic environment.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Safely transport residents to and from activities and special events.
- Set up and take down equipment and supplies; assist with moving furniture as needed.
- Remain physically active during shifts (standing, walking, bending).
Requirements:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, or a related field.
- Experience or knowledge of working with older adults and understanding of the aging process.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication skills; professional, respectful, flexible, and reliable.
- Physical capability to perform lifting, transfer techniques, and move equipment.
- Experience with RAI-MDS and PointClickCare is considered an asset.
