Canlan Sports is looking for an experienced and passionate Program Director to lead the CHAMPS International Skating Centre of BC (CHAMPS) at Scotia Barn.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader to shape one of British Columbia's premier figure skating programs. You'll play a key role in growing participation, supporting athlete development from Learn-to-Skate through high-performance pathways, and creating an exceptional experience for skaters, families, and coaches.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the strategic direction, growth, and day-to-day operation of the CHAMPS International Skating Centre of BC program.
- Develop and oversee recreational, developmental, and competitive skating programs that align with Skate Canada standards.
- Drive membership growth, participant retention, and athlete progression through clearly defined skating pathways.
- Collaborate with coaches, skating consultants, and facility leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with athletes, parents, coaches, and community partners through effective communication and engagement.
- Monitor program performance, participation trends, and operational metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support program scheduling, ice utilization, and operational planning to maximize participant experience and program efficiency.
- Promote Safe Sport principles, governance standards, and a positive, inclusive skating environment.
Qualification & Experience:
- Progressive leadership experience in sport, recreation, or membership-based programming, preferably within figure skating.
- Experience leading or coordinating coaches, instructors, or program staff.
- Strong understanding of Skate Canada programming, athlete development pathways, and Long-Term Development principles.
- Demonstrated ability to grow participation, manage stakeholder relationships, and deliver high-quality programs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using data and performance metrics to evaluate and improve program outcomes.
- Post-secondary education in Sport Management, Recreation, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- Must be eligible to operate as an independent contractor and maintain any required business registrations, insurance, and applicable tax registrations.
