As an EarlyON Worker, you will deliver engaging, high-quality early learning experiences that support children's development while building strong relationships with parents, caregivers, and community partners. You will help create a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing environment where families feel supported, connected, and empowered to foster their children's learning and well-being.
Working as part of a collaborative team, you will assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of EarlyON programs and services, ensuring they align with the agency's policies and procedures, professional standards of practice, ethical guidelines, and applicable legislation.
The EarlyON Worker reports directly to the Program Director.
Duties
- Build trusting relationships with children and their families to support their individual needs and developmental goals
- Facilitate early childhood activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Connect families with community resources, programs, and services that support their needs
- Maintain accurate records of visits, assessments, and family interactions in accordance with program standards
Support the EarlyON Program (85%)
- Working in close collaboration with the EarlyON program Facilitator and Children and Program Coordinator and provides support for the successful implementation of the EarlyON programming.
- Works and coordinate with the EarlyON facilitator in identifying families in need of additional supports
- Participates in facilitating EarlyON programming twice a week
- Develop and plan EarlyON parents and caregiver activities in consultation with the EarlyON facilitator
- Acts as support staff when a specific program service is understaffed in the Department of Children and Youth
- Provide information, inter and intra agency referrals and access to resources to service users
Other (15%)
- Attends regular staff meetings
- Provides other support as assigned
Summer Months Duties (July/August)
- May to June months, visit garden plot twice weekly (LEAD STAFF TO HANDLE THIS PROJECT)
- Meet with the garden helper volunteer.
- Confirm items needed for Garden plot
- July to August: Visit Garden with families once weekly (mornings only)
- When visiting garden with families take a few outdoor items, something to sit on, snack and water.
- To prevent waste, a visit is needed once to twice weekly to harvest food items for the September months.
- Smythe Park – visit park once weekly during mornings to take items for outdoor play and snack picnic style.
Job Requirements
- Must be able to demonstrate willingness to work cordially with colleagues and integrate into a team
- Ability to adhere strictly to directives and instructions from supervisor/s
- Able to communicate professionally with staff and families
- Demonstrate professional attitude at all the times in the workplace
- Experience working with children in educational, childcare, or community settings
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, families, and community partners
- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood best practices
- First Aid Certificate (Must have before first day of program
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education (RECE)
- Current Standard First Aid/CPR - Level C
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Other certifications/training relevant experience
Schedule: Monday to Friday (8:30 am - 4:30 pm)
Pay: From $21.50 per hour
