The Role
We're looking for a reliable, hard-working Shop & Digital Template Assistant to keep our fabrication shop running smoothly. This is a physical, hands-on role — you'll be moving slabs, keeping the shop clean and organized, and supporting our CNC operator on the floor. As you grow into the role, you'll also take on digitizing physical job templates into CAD files, a skill we'll train the right person on.
What You'll Do
Shop & Material Handling
- Unload stone slabs from deliveries safely and efficiently
- Move and organize slabs throughout the shop using proper lifting techniques and equipment
- Operate forklift to empty garbage bins and assist with material movement
- Keep the shop clean, swept, and organized on a daily basis
- Dispose of offcuts and waste material in designated areas
Production Support
- Assist the CNC operator with setup, material staging, and job changeovers
- Support fabrication staff with general shop tasks as needed
- Help maintain tools and equipment in good working order
- Follow all shop safety protocols including PPE requirements
Digital Templating
- Convert physical job templates into digital CAD files using templating software
- Ensure accuracy of digital templates against physical measurements
- Organize and file digital templates by job for easy retrieval
- Work closely with the CNC operator to ensure files are ready for production
What We're Looking For
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual labour in a shop environment
- Reliable, punctual, and takes pride in keeping a clean workspace
- Forklift certified or willing to obtain certification (we can assist)
- Basic computer skills — willingness to learn templating/CAD software is a must
- Attention to detail, especially when working with measurements and templates
- Previous experience in a fabrication, trades, or construction environment is an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Nice to Have
- Experience with stone, tile, or countertop fabrication
- Familiarity with CAD or digital templating software (e.g. Slabsmith, Prodim, Flexijet)
- Previous forklift or heavy equipment operation experience
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
