JOB PROFILE:
Our Child Care Centre services approximately 45 children within the North York area and takes part in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) program.
This position, for Child Care Supervisor & Centre Transition Lead, will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Child Care Centre and will report directly to ownership. This role will act as the point of contact in all facets of operating the Child Care Centre, including working with the Ministry of Education, Toronto Public Health, the City of Toronto, and working effectively with staff, families and the children of our Centre. Your leadership will be key in connecting with the community, mentoring staff/students, ensuring enrolment rates stay consistently high and all administrative and supervisory responsibilities related to the day-to-day operation.
Our organization is entering an exciting period of growth and transformation. Over the next few years, our Child Care Centre will be preparing for a transition from its current leased location to a newly acquired space. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the continued success of our current operations while helping guide the organization through this significant transition.
The Child Care Supervisor & Centre Transition Lead will also oversee the operations of a second childcare facility (during the transition phase) that will serve as the future home of the organization.
This role requires a leader who can balance operational excellence with strategic planning, ensuring both locations are successful while preparing for the eventual consolidation of operations into a single long-term facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the Child Care Centres:
● Ensure compliance with all Ministry of Education licensing requirements
● Maintain compliance with CWELCC requirements and reporting obligations
● Ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, health and safety standards, and licensing regulations. Update policies as required.
● Maintain a safe environment for children and create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere.
● Parent communication and issue resolution
● Maintain positive relationships with families and community stakeholders
● Monitor enrollment levels and operational performance
● Multi-Site Management
● Provide operational oversight of childcare locations
● Identify operational efficiencies and opportunities for improvement
Administrative Responsibilities
Oversee the daily administration of the Child Care Centres:
● Ministry and CWELCC reporting and documentation
● Oversee enrolment and waitlist administration, billing processes, and fee collection procedures.
● Budget awareness and cost control
● Maintain necessary documentation and provide reports to ownership as requested, while also keeping hard copy and electronic files in an orderly fashion.
● Encourage parental involvement in the Child Care Centre.
● Develop monthly and yearly statistics about number of participants, costs of equipment, supplies and maintenance
● Support consistency in policies, procedures, and service delivery
● Vendor and contractor coordination
Supervisory Responsibilities
● Supervise and coordinate staffing, scheduling and resource allocation across sites
● Support staffing continuity and ensure appropriate coverage is maintained during staff absences.
● Support staff development, performance management, coaching, and accountability
● Conduct staff meetings at least once a month and to support professional development.
● Provide support and direction to caregivers regarding child development.
● Ensure staff work as members of a team, have input into planning and have opportunities for improving their professional skills.
● Provide feedback/input to ownership for annual appraisals on each caregiver and all other centre employees.
● Establish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies
● Ensure children are supervised at all times
● Assist ownership with the hiring process and make recommendations on staffing.
● Ensure equipment and the facilities are clean, well maintained and safe at all times
● Promote a positive image of the Child Care Centre to the community.
● Demonstrated ability to be tactful – being respectful and polite at all times when dealing with people, especially in difficult situations.
● Maintain adequate liaison with the appropriate agencies, professional associations and other child care programs in the city.
● Act as a professional ambassador for the organization within the community.
Transition & Growth Leadership
Lead planning and implementation activities related to the future relocation of the Child Care Centre:
● Assist with transition planning, occupancy preparation, licensing requirements, and operational readiness
● Support enrollment growth and retention strategies
● Collaborate with ownership regarding long-term business planning
● Develop and implement strategies to improve occupancy and sustainability at the future location

● Maintain full compliance with Ministry and CWELCC licensing and documentation requirements
● Successfully oversee operations at both locations during the transition phase

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
● Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
● Minimum 7 years experience as a Child Care Supervisor
● Previous experience supervising staff and managing childcare centre operations
● Strong understanding of early childhood development and Ministry of Education licensing requirements
● Experience working within the CWELCC program
● Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
● Strong organizational and project management abilities
● Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
● Infant/Child First Aid Certificate, and familiar with emergency procedures
● Financial management and Human Resources management
● Submit to a full criminal record check
● Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Preferred
● Experience working within a Montessori environment
● Multi-site management experience
● Experience opening, relocating, or expanding childcare programs
● Experience with occupancy growth strategies and enrollment management
● Business operations or administrative management experience

● Competitive salary based on experience; Salary 70,000 to 80,000
