Float Staff / After School Program Staff Hours: Monday–Friday, 10:00am–5:30pm
Position Summary
Muskoka Lakes Preschool is seeking a reliable, flexible, and caring educator to join our team as a Float Staff / After School Program Staff member. This position supports the overall daily operation of the centre by assisting in classrooms where needed throughout the day, covering staff breaks and absences, and leading/supervising children in the After School Program during the afternoon.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, team-oriented, and passionate about creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.
Responsibilities
- Support classrooms throughout the centre as needed (Toddler, Preschool, and School Age Programs)
- Cover staff breaks, lunches, planning time, and absences
- Assist with daily classroom routines including:
- Supervision of children
- Toileting/diapering support if required
- Meal/snack routines
- Indoor and outdoor play
- Transitions and rest times
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Follow all Ministry of Education, licensing, health and safety, and centre policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with staff, children, and families in a positive and professional manner
- Support children with emotional regulation, social interactions, and challenging behaviours using positive guidance strategies
- Transition into the After School Program daily from 3:00pm–5:30pm
- Plan and engage children in age-appropriate activities within the After School Program
- Ensure proper supervision and safety of school-age children during indoor and outdoor play
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a licensed child care setting preferred
- RECE designation considered an asset but not required
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and work in multiple program areas
