Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Operations Technician to join our dynamic team in the food manufacturing industry. In this role you will report to the Operations Supervisor, and as an Operations Technician you will be responsible for production, sanitation, line set-up, tear down, and CIP (Clean-In-Place) activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the facility. This role supports equipment preparation, production startup, cleaning and sanitation activities, packaging operations, and food safety compliance while maintaining operational readiness across departments.
TASKS
Production Support
- Assist with assembling, packaging, sealing, boxing, and palletizing finished product
- Place trays on the assembly line and fill trays with ingredients as required
- Feed product through production and packaging equipment
- Provide relief to line personnel and assist other departments as required
Sanitation & CIP
- Follow written cleaning and sanitation procedures for equipment and facility areas
- Clean and sanitize production equipment, utensils, floors, and work area
- Operate and support CIP systems and ensure CIP processes are completed correctly and safely
- Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment
- Assist with post sanitation inspections and equipment preparation prior to production startup
Line Set-Up & Equipment Support
- Perform disassembly and reassembly of production equipment for cleaning and startup
- Assist with equipment changeovers and production line configurations
- Combine multiple pieces of equipment to operate together as a complete production line
- Conduct regular inspections of production equipment and CIP systems
- Troubleshoot minor equipment or operational issues and escalate concerns appropriately
- Ensure production equipment is in proper operating condition before startup
Compliance & Safety
- Complete all required production, sanitation, HACCP, and CIP documentation accurately
- Follow all GMP, HACCP, SQF, food safety, and health & safety requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times
- Report any safety, quality, mechanical, or material concerns immediately
- Participate actively in maintaining a safe and clean work environment
General
- Perform all other duties assigned by Operations leadership
CERTIFICATIONS
- Requires completion of WHMIS 2015 within the last 3 years
- GMP, HACCP, and food safety training required
- Lockout Tagout (LOTO) awareness training required
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to cleanliness, food safety, and teamwork
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability considered an asset
- Previous experience with production equipment, sanitation, line set-up, or CIP systems considered an asset
- Internal certification in equipment setup/changeovers required following training
- Internal CIP (Clean-In-Place) certification required following training
- Internal sanitation and chemical handling certification required following training
- Forklift certification considered an asset where operationally required
WORKING CONDITIONS
Please Note: This job has daily exposure to a food processing environment which includes dampness, cold temperatures, grease, cleaning chemicals, and fumes. Position may require varying start times, extended working hours, weekends, overtime, and flexible shifts depending on operational requirements. Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment is required.
Pay: From $26.00 per hour
