About Us:
We are a dynamic and fast-growing automotive dealership specializing in new and used vehicles. We pride ourselves on accurate, transparent financial management, exceptional service, and maintaining high operational standards. We’re seeking an exceptional accountant/bookkeeper to take ownership of our financial records and help drive our business forward. We are locally owned & not apart of any dealer groups!
Key Responsibilities:
- Post all daily financial transactions — including vehicle sales (new, used, wholesale, dealer trades, fleet sales), warranty claims, aftermarket and parts transactions, rebates, and other dealership-related items — to the general ledger with complete accuracy and compliance with our accounting standards.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable: process vendor invoices, handle cheque runs/EFT payments, reconcile vendor statements, and ensure timely payments/receipts.
- Perform regular reconciliations: bank reconciliations, warranty/factory/floor-plan reconciliations, lien payoffs, funding notices, inventory and vehicle-deal schedules, commissions, and any dealership-specific liability or receivable schedules.
- Prepare month-end and year-end closing schedules, and provide supporting documentation for audits or financial reviews.
- Generate periodic financial reports (e.g. income statements, balance sheet summaries, cash flow summaries) to support dealership management with insights into financial performance.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation and deal-file records — ensure confidentiality and compliance with internal controls.
- Work collaboratively with Controller, Sales, Operations, and Service teams to coordinate financial data and resolve discrepancies.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, ensure accounting integrity, and support dealership growth.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent bookkeeping experience.
- Strong understanding of, and ability to apply, core accounting and bookkeeping principles (GAAP or relevant standard).
- Minimum of 2 years accounting/bookkeeping experience; prior automotive-dealership experience strongly preferred (deal posting, inventory accounting, warranty, etc.).
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and familiarity with dealership management.
- Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal — with ability to collaborate effectively across departments while maintaining confidentiality.
- Strong ethics, integrity, and a dependable, self-motivated work style.
- Bonus: experience with financial reporting, month-end close, audits, inventory reconciliation, commissions, and warranty/floor-plan accounting.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary: $70,000 to $80,000 per year but commensurate with skills/experience.
- Professional working environment — supportive management, clear procedures, and respect for accounting integrity.
Why You’ll Stand Out:
We are not looking for a part-time bookkeeper — we want someone who is proud of numbers, passionate about accuracy, and sees the big picture. If you understand dealership accounting is more than just A/P and A/R — it’s deal-posting, inventory control, warranty tracking, commissions, and keeping the financial engine humming — you’ll thrive here.
An advanced thank you to all applicants. Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
