Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Handyman to join our contracting team in Mississauga, ON. The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of technical skills, including electrical, mechanical, and facilities maintenance expertise. This role involves performing diverse repair and maintenance tasks across various projects, ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic quality of client properties. Leadership and customer service skills are essential to coordinate tasks effectively and deliver exceptional service to clients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment
- Perform repairs involving electrical systems, welding, plumbing, carpentry, and general facilities maintenance
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to troubleshoot issues
- Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work orders and documentation
- Supervise or assist with subcontractors or other team members during projects
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to safety protocols
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions
- Lead small teams on specific projects or repair tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance, electrical work, welding, or related fields
- Supervising experience is preferred for leadership roles
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and technical drawings
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and CMMS software systems
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces
- Experience working within manufacturing or industrial environments is a plus
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a professional attitude
- Valid driver's license is preferred for travel between sites
