Server / Kitchen Helper
Riverside Lions is a non-profit seniors community focused on creating a safe and welcoming home for residents. Our dining program is an important part of daily life, supporting not only nutrition but also connection, comfort, and overall well-being.
We are currently seeking a Server/Kitchen Helper who understands that meal service is more than food—it’s about caring for people.
Position Summary
As part of our dining team, you’ll help create a warm and welcoming dining experience while ensuring residents feel comfortable, cared for, and respected.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to residents
· Take and serve food and beverage orders in an efficient and courteous manner
· Set up, clean, and maintain organized dining areas
· Follow proper food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures
· Deliver meals using proper dining service standards (e.g., correct serving and clearing techniques)
· Monitor resident attendance at meals and report concerns as required
· Support resident well-being by being attentive, observant, and responsive to their needs
· Build positive relationships with residents and create a welcoming, familiar atmosphere
· Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and other team members
Qualifications & Skills
· Experience working with seniors or in a care environment is an asset
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Compassionate, patient, and resident-focused approach
· Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
· Ability to handle feedback and adapt to changing needs
· Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
· Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to go above and beyond
Requirements
· Food Handler’s Certificate (or equivalent) required
· Criminal Record Check (within the last 3 months)
· Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
· Willingness to obtain the Manitoba Liquor & Gaming Smart Choices Certificate (if required)
