Working closely with other members of the Maintenance team, the Transportation Refrigeration Technician plays an important role in ensuring that our equipment continues to operate. This will involve ongoing maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of refrigeration equipment. The role requires a functional expert, someone who isn’t afraid of diving into a problem and takes great pride in finding the correct answer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and install refrigeration and heating components including motors and compressors
- Interpret wiring diagrams, install, and calibrate related controls
- Recharge systems with refrigerant and perform routine maintenance checks
- Service and repair diesel engines and related parts
- Repair and replace parts and components and overhaul refrigeration systems
- Interact with transportation drivers and dispatchers to understand customers’ repair and maintenance needs
- Participates in emergency / service calls when required
Qualifications & Competencies:
- A strong and demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous learning
- Journeyman Status with Reefer Certification
- Manitoba Class 5 (or higher) Driver’s License and a clean driving record
- Interest and/or desire to learn and work with refrigerated transport units such as Carrier, Thermo King reefer/heater units
- Knowledge and/or experience working with refrigerated transport (reefer/heater) units is an asset
- MOPIA certification is required (employer-paid training will be provided)
