Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Communicative Disorders Assistant to support speech-language pathologists in providing high-quality care to diverse patient populations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment, assisting with therapy sessions and contributing to patient progress. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in communication disorders, excellent interpersonal skills, and a foundational understanding of medical terminology. Experience in acute care or pediatrics is a plus, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist speech-language pathologists during therapy sessions with patients of all ages, including pediatrics and adults in acute care settings
- Prepare therapy materials and set up equipment for sessions
- Observe and document patient responses and progress under supervision
- Support patients with exercises and activities designed to improve speech, language, and communication skills
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of therapy areas and equipment
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures
Requirements
- Prior experience or familiarity with acute care environments or pediatric populations is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to communication disorders is advantageous
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with patients of all ages
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a healthcare team
- Certification or training related to speech-language pathology assistance is a plus but not mandatory.
