Job Summary
The Supplier Quality Coordinator plays a key support role in ensuring timely delivery, quality compliance, and accurate tracking of supplier‑provided materials and components. Working closely with Production, Purchasing, Planning, and Engineering, this role helps maintain continuity of supply, sustain supplier performance, and support quality assurance processes within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Job Duties
Material Coordination & Delivery Tracking
- Monitor replacement non-conforming (NC) parts and follow up with suppliers to confirm delivery dates, quantities, and shipping details.
- Communicate delivery risks to Production, Purchasing, and Planning teams and participate in developing recovery or mitigation plans.
- Update ERP/MRP systems with NC and delivery details to ensure accurate part and supplier tracking.
Supplier Quality Support
- Assist with incoming inspection activities for supplier-provided parts and materials.
- Track supplier performance metrics, including PPM, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and delivery issues.
- Identify recurring delays, bottlenecks, or quality trends and support supplier performance improvement initiatives.
- Support the issuance and follow-up of supplier corrective actions.
- Maintain quality documentation, certifications, and part approval records.
Engineering & Quality Collaboration
- Participate in PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and FAI (First Article Inspection) activities under the guidance of senior team members.
- Help coordinate communication between suppliers, engineering, procurement, and other cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities related to scrap reduction, rework prevention, and process stability.
Educational Background & Experience Required
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering—or equivalent technical education.
- Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or quality (co‑op or internship experience considered an asset).
- Basic understanding of machining, welding, or mechanical components.
- Ability to read engineering drawings; familiarity with GD&T considered an asset.
- Interest in developing skills in PPAP, FAI, and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities.
- High attention to detail and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
