Competent Riggers are usually full-time climbers, lead hands, supervisors, crew foremen, or safety representatives who erect communication towers. You must have a depth knowledge and understanding that enables you to look at a situation and take proper action with minimal direction. A Rigger has the ability to recognize fall hazards, equipment hazards, and the authority to mitigate those hazards.
- Ground and elevated construction of communication towers.
- Perform work safely, efficiently, and within time constraints.
- Effectively communicate with peers to help establish job requirements, steps to be taken, outline hazards and/or safety issues, concerns, etc.
- Assemble equipment and tools required to each job.
- Fully equip trucks and clean when required.
- Willingness to travel, brave cold weather, and work overtime as required.
- Must be mechanically inclined, particularly with steel work.
- Able to work while secured to structures at an elevated position.
- Completion of assigned programs (First Aid, WHIMIS, etc.)
