Construction / Civil Equipment Operators
Start: Immediately
End: 5-6 month contract
Shift: two weeks on/two weeks off, camp position
Duties:
Operate a variety of heavy civil construction equipment including, but not limited to:
- Dozers (D9 and above)
- Excavators
- Graders
- Loaders
- Perform earthworks, grading, trenching, excavation, backfilling, road construction, site preparation, and material handling activities.
- Work and operate outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, fog, and winter conditions.
- Assist with general labour duties as required to support construction operations.
- Maintain awareness of site conditions and surroundings at all times and promptly report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
- Clean, maintain, and secure equipment in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- Complete inspection reports and equipment logbooks, and communicate any deficiencies to the supervisor or maintenance personnel.
- Communicate effectively with crew members, spotters, and supervisors using hand signals and radio communications.
- Follow project specifications, site safety requirements, and company operating procedures.
Position Requirements:
- Strong commitment to safety including personal safety and the safety of co-workers
- Demonstrated experience operating multiple different types of heavy civil construction equipment in road building, infrastructure, earthworks, utility or site development projects is required.
- Ability to perform grading, excavation, trenching, material placement, and site preparation activities with precision and efficiency.
- Willingness to step out of the cab and perform labour tasks if and when required including shoveling tracks, fueling, greasing, and cleaning equipment, operating powered equipment, loading, and unloading of miscellaneous supplies and equipment, and other duties as needed and able to manage up to 50lbs.
- Ability to work outside in changing weather conditions over a 12 hour shift
- Ability to work night shift.
- Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
- Must hold a valid BC driver licence with reliable to transport to meet in Prince George/Vanderhoof
Preference will be given to candidates currently residing in British Columbia or Alberta due to project locations, mobilization logistics, and scheduling requirements. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
