Position Overview
Silviculture and forestry workers carry out a wide range of duties related to reforestation and the management, improvement, and conservation of forest lands. Silvifor Resource Consultants is a SAFE-certified company committed to growth, innovation and maintaining a safe, respectful work environment. This position requires a strong safety-focused mindset, self-motivation, and effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Essential duties
- Day to day tasks may include but are not limited to: Pruning, Tree planting, Browse protection, Shed duties, Chemical Brushing, Manual Brushing, Fuel Management through Resource Burning, Wildland Fire Suppression and Mop Up etc.
- Follow daily work plans and instructions from Crew Lead.
- Maintain productivity targets while upholding company safety standards.
- Conduct basic checks (pre/post trip, PPE, tools etc.) and report any issues to the crew lead.
- Understand and comply with the company's policies and procedures.
- Complete required documentation such as vehicle inspections, site inspections, incident reports, safe choice forms etc.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings, emergency drills, and tailgate discussions.
- Support the crew, share responsibilities and maintain a positive work environment.
- Assist with any additional duties as assigned by Crew Leads or Management.
Responsibilities
- Communicate- let your crew lead and supervisors know if you need time off as early as possible, and right away if you are unable to make a scheduled shift.
- Ask for more training, clarification or accommodation if you need it.
- Be prepared and punctual- arrive at the meeting place on time, with all necessary gear in good condition, including spare tools and clothing.
- Ensure that you show up fit for duty- adequate rest, good nutrition, proper hydration etc.
- Work safely- always act in accordance with the Silvifor safety policies and procedures. Report any injuries, unsafe acts or conditions. Do not attempt any task without adequate training and skill.
- Work efficiently–Make sure you understand the plan before starting work. Ask your crew lead or a more experienced crew member for tips to improve technique and efficiency. Make sure you know and follow the quality requirements for the job. Focus on your job while at work; leave phones in the truck for breaks unless it is necessary for safety.
- Be professional and courteous–to your coworkers, clients, contractors, and to the public.
Qualifications
- Previous silviculture or other physically demanding outdoor work experience is preferred.
- Strong hazard recognition and assessment skills, with awareness of BCFSC best practices.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Strong awareness of safety procedures and ability to follow companies safe work practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions.
Skills
- Team player with strong work ethic and self-motivation.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment where conditions and tasks are constantly changing.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to remain reachable and flexible, as high-priority tasks may arise unexpectedly.
- Situational awareness and hazard recognition.
- Basic navigation skills.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor, remote worksites with varied terrain including steep slopes, slash, brush, wetlands, and obstacles.
- Exposure to extreme weather.
- Long periods of walking, bending, lifting, repetitive movements, and carrying equipment

Pay: $23.00-$26.50 per hour
