Peace and Culture Coffee is an upcoming café in Strathcona, built on the legacy of Black Tusk Coffee—a space originally created to nurture the next wave of Vancouver’s coffee community. We aim for excellence and believe that with the right people, thoughtful decisions, and consistent hard work, we can create a place where talented, passionate baristas can build sustainable careers.
Our unique offerings are consist of class brewed coffee and many cocktail-inspired-over-engineered coffee/tea drinks.
Our start date is flexible. The successful candidate will need to provide a standard two-week notice to their current employer. (Target opening: late December to mid-January.)
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate strength in:
- Shift management
- Delivering consistent, high-quality pour-overs and espresso drinks
- Managing 20–30 drinks per hour solo, or 60–80 drinks per hour as a two-person team, within a 7-minute order-to-serve window
- Identifying coffee by origin, processing method, and cultivar
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional station during peak hours
- Performing basic espresso machine maintenance
- Lifting at least 25 lbs
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Staying calm and delivering steady service under pressure
- Some basic skills and knowledges in cooking and knife handling
- A community-driven mindset
- Tasting, dialing in, and recording notes for five coffees daily within 30 minutes
- Basic understanding of water chemistry in relation to coffee
