Position Status: This position is classified as Casual as outlined in the union agreement and is the standard entry point for Transit Drivers. While the role is titled "casual", candidates must have full availability to meet operational needs. As opportunities become available, employees may be able to move into Part-Time or Full-Time positions through the union bidding process. Priority for these opportunities is given to current employees in accordance with the union agreement.
Key Accountabilities:
Safe Transportation of Passengers
- Transport passengers safely and according to established policy
- Operate shuttle vehicles in a safe manner in all-weather/road conditions
- Conduct pre-and-post trip checks of vehicles prior to/after their use
Customer Service and Passenger Management
- Provide information to and assist passengers in a courteous manner.
- Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively solving problems
- Aid in loading/unloading of wheelchair/stroller/walker passengers
Communication and Reporting
- Maintain radio contact with base and use proper communications protocol
- Report vehicle maintenance issues, passenger emergencies, and schedule concerns
- Complete various forms of paperwork, as required
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid Class 4 driver's license or higher.
- Clear driver's abstract.
- Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
- Negative drug and alcohol test.
- Strong knowledge of Langley and the surrounding area.
- Exceptional driving skills and habits

Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
Organized, punctual, and reliable with a calm, upbeat, and helpful manner
Physical ability to push/pull wheelchairs up and down a ramp or onto lift
Bonus Points if You Have:
- Previous taxi or shuttle driving experience.
- Class 2Q driver’s license.
What We Offer:
- Competitive wage of $31.92 per hour
- Paid training at $19.15 per hour
- Shifts can be a mix of mornings, afternoons and weekends.
- This position will work on an on-call basis with future opportunities for part-time and full-time roles
- Service will operate 7 days per week between the hours of 4:00 am to 1:00 am the following day
