Who we are
Transitional Support Services provides trauma-informed and relationship-based care to children and youth through therapeutic group homes and outreach services. The young people we work with have often experienced trauma and loss, and may present with a wide range of adaptive behaviours.
This opportunity
Reporting to the Supervisor of Transitional Support Services, the Child and Youth Case Worker is responsible for the client related shift supervision of front line workers, as well as intensive support and therapeutic care of young persons who may present with behavioural, social, emotional or addiction issues, often related to adverse childhood experiences. This may take place in the home and/or community settings.
Working with the Supervisor of Transitional Support Services, and consulting with the larger care team (including clinical professionals where applicable). The position is responsible for operationalizing the overarching plan of care through the development, implementation and assessment of care and/or therapeutic plans that meet the needs of children and youth and provide day-day direction to front line workers.

Essential qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Child and Youth Care or Social worker
- Experience in developing and implementing individual, group and/or family therapeutic plans for children and youth.
- Experience working in therapeutic programs delivering services to traumatized and behaviorally challenging youth
- Experience working with a variety of cultures
Candidates who have a diploma in Child and Youth Care or Social worker and experience to the essential qualifications above will be equally considered.

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability
If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:
- A genuine interest in engaging youth at risk and their families in therapeutic processes
- An understanding of child abuse and trauma and the effects on childhood development
- Self-awareness of the impact of one’s own behavior on therapeutic processes and the management of crisis
- Strong team leader with excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong writing skills and oral communication skills
