Overview
Our small but successful catering company is seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our culinary team on a self employed, independent contractor basis. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive restaurant and kitchen experience, and a passion for food preparation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee kitchen operations and deliver exceptional dining experiences to our guests. The Chef will play a vital role in managing food quality and maintaining a welcoming hospitality environment.
Duties
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food handling, cooking and cleaning.
- Develop and execute innovative menu items while maintaining consistency and quality
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs
- Collaborate with restaurant management to plan staffing schedules and optimize workflow
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times in a fast but relaxed environment.
- Serve as a role model for professionalism, hospitality, and leadership within the team
Skills
- Proven supervising experience in a restaurant or food service setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and ability to work independently.
- Excellent team management and leadership abilities
- Deep understanding of food safety protocols and proper handling procedures
- Skilled in food industry operations with a focus on hospitality excellence
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example with professionalism and enthusiasm
