Kitchen Manager – Child Care Centre
Position Overview The Kitchen Manager plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our licensed childcare centre. This position ensures that all food handling, meal service, and kitchen operations meet the highest standards of health, safety, and Ministry of Education requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and committed to maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for children.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Handling & Compliance
· Receive daily food deliveries from the catering company, verify temperatures, and ensure all items meet Public Health and Ministry of Education regulations.
· Check expiry dates and ensure all food products are stored safely and appropriately.
· Ensure the centre’s menu is followed consistently and meals are prepared and served on schedule.
· Maintain accurate inventory of all food, beverages, and kitchen supplies to ensure the kitchen is always adequately stocked.
· Monitor and track kitchen waste, identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency.
Kitchen Operations
· Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all kitchen areas.
· Ensure all cleaning tasks are completed regularly and documented as required.
· Oversee laundry for all classrooms, ensuring items are cleaned, dried, and returned promptly.
· Support general housekeeping tasks related to kitchen and food service areas.
Meal Service
· Prepare and organize children’s meal bins, including plates, cups, and utensils for each classroom.
· Deliver lunches and snacks to classrooms on time and in accordance with centre procedures.
Collaboration & Communication
· Work collaboratively with centre supervisors and educators to support smooth daily operations.
· Communicate any concerns related to food safety, inventory, or kitchen operations promptly.
Qualifications
· Valid Food Handler Certification (mandatory).
· Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (required).
· Clear Medical Assessment confirming fitness to work with children (required).
· Experience in a childcare, school, or institutional kitchen setting is an asset.
· Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
· Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.

Pay: $17.20-$21.00 per hour
