The Institutional Associate plays a critical role on the Montréal team in both maintaining and communicating investment expertise in specific investment solutions, while delivering exceptional service to our institutional clients. This is an opportunity to be part of one of Canada’s most established institutional asset managers and contribute to the continued development of the RBC GAM investment management solutions platform.
What will you do?

Collaborate with colleagues and institutional portfolio managers within the Montréal office and across Canada on the preparation of presentations and other forms of client communications, including market and portfolio reviews, investment-driven projects, proposals and responses to client requests.

Support institutional portfolio managers and, as expertise grows, play a growing part in client presentations.

Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of investment strategies, the portfolio construction process, market conditions and portfolio positioning.

Play a key role in the day-to-day support of client mandates, including mandate structuring, cash flow management and compliance monitoring.

Compose written market analyses and create and maintain charts and presentations.

Assist in creating content and managing the production, review and distribution of client reports (monthly, quarterly and on request).

Prepare mandate-specific performance and attribution analyses (quarterly and on request).

Support research and analysis efforts, including for specialized white papers and podcasts, portfolio structuring, product development, risk modelling, and internal and external seminars.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
-
Five to seven years of investment and financial services industry experience
-
CFA Program candidate or CFA Charterholder status
-
Bachelor’s degree (in finance, mathematics or actuarial science, an asset)

Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly serve our clients and do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs

Advanced proficiency in French writing required
-
Solid understanding of financial markets and desire to gain further expertise

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and the ability to utilize and become proficient in various tools and systems

Willingness to make use of RBC’s AI tools to automate repetitive or inefficient tasks

A detail- and quality-oriented mindset and a commitment to upholding excellence by verifying the accuracy of their own work and that of analysts

Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills

Ability to work independently and be a strong team player

Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities
Nice-to-have

Experience managing institutional client relationships

Demonstrated ability to structure and write clear and concise thought leadership papers on technical and specialized subjects
