Our team works on installation and service of various roofing systems including BUR (Built-Up Roofing), TPO, PVC, EPDM, torch and cold applied modified bitumen. Job Type: Seasonal Full Time (Summer)
We are currently looking for hardworking, dependable General Labourers to support our commercial roofing crews throughout the summer.
We complete commercial roofing projects across Ontario. Employees report to either our Kitchener or Hamilton dispatch location before travelling with their crew to job sites. All projects require early morning starts and travel, so flexibility and reliable transportation to your dispatch location are essential.
Commercial roofing is tough work. If you enjoy working hard, staying active, taking pride in a job well done, and being part of a crew that depends on one another, we'd love to hear from you.
This position is expected to run until approximately mid September. While this is a seasonal opportunity, we're always looking for great people to join the Stybek team. Individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, excellent attendance, a willingness to learn, and an interest in developing a career in commercial roofing may be considered for permanent full time positions as opportunities arise.
Please do not apply if you do not have previous experience performing physically demanding manual labour. We are looking for individuals who have demonstrated they can perform hard physical work safely and consistently throughout a full workday. Candidates without previous experience in physically demanding manual labour will not be considered.
What You'll Do
- Support the Foreman, Lead Hand, and roofing crews throughout the day.
- Respond quickly to requests for tools, materials, and equipment.
- Load and unload trucks with roofing materials and equipment.
- Carry roofing materials to rooftop work areas using ladders, hoists, or material lifts.
- Move heavy ladders, generators, tools, and equipment around the job site.
- Assist with moving heavy materials comparable to concrete patio stones, lumber, and other construction materials.
- Keep crews supplied with materials to minimize downtime.
- Remove debris and old roofing materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site.
- Assist with daily setup, teardown, and cleanup.
- Travel with the crew to commercial job sites across Ontario.
- Perform other labour duties as directed by the Foreman or Lead Hand.
Experience Required
Applicants must have demonstrated experience performing physically demanding manual labour in roles such as:
- Construction
- Roofing
- Landscaping
- Concrete
- Masonry
- Interlock or hardscape installation
- Framing or carpentry
- Demolition
- Other heavy manual labour positions of similar physical intensity
Physical Requirements
You must be able to:
- Repeatedly lift and carry 50 to 75 lbs throughout the day.
- Perform physically demanding work for a full shift.
- Climb ladders and work at heights.
- Bend, kneel, crouch, push, pull, lift, and carry throughout the day.
- Move heavy materials comparable to concrete patio stones, lumber, roofing products, and other construction materials.
- Work outdoors in hot summer conditions.
- Maintain a strong work pace while working safely.
