Shop Technician - Full Time (Bonnyville AB)
At Kinetic Safety, we provide industrial safety services across Western Canada. Every day, our crews rely on equipment that has been cleaned, inspected, tested, and prepared in our shop before it ever reaches a worksite.
The Role
We're looking for a full-time Equipment & Shop Technician to join our Bonnyville team.
This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring our equipment, trucks, trailers, and shop are clean, organized, maintained, and ready to support field operations. Cleaning is a significant part of the job, so we're looking for someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and takes pride in doing the job right.
You'll also be responsible for inspecting and preparing life-saving safety equipment for deployment, making attention to detail and quality control critical to the role.
If you take pride in your work, have a strong work ethic, and enjoy owning the details, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, quality inspect, test, and prepare safety equipment for deployment to field operations.
- Organize, stage, and prepare equipment for upcoming field projects.
- Clean and detail company trucks, trailers, and equipment to Kinetic's standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop, yard, office, and storage areas.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on equipment.
- Maintain accurate records for inspections, repairs, maintenance schedules, and equipment status logs.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure equipment is organized and readily available for upcoming projects.
- Transport equipment between Kinetic locations and client sites as required.
- Support the Operations team with day-to-day logistics and equipment needs.
- Occasionally perform Safety Technician duties on site as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Role Requirements
- Must live within daily commuting distance of Bonnyville AB.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 60 lbs, standing for long periods, and performing hands-on work throughout the day.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence (non-GDL) with a clean driver's abstract and 3+ years of insurance history.
- Comfortable driving pickups and towing trailers (or willingness to learn).
- Regular schedule is Monday to Friday; occasional evening, weekend, and after-hours work will be required to support field operations.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who takes pride in doing things right. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, mechanically inclined, and enjoys taking ownership of their work. You'll likely be a great fit if you:
- Have a strong work ethic and take pride in doing quality work.
- Aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves - cleaning dirty equipment is a significant part of this role.
- Have a mechanical aptitude and enjoy working with tools and equipment.
- Are organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Take initiative and enjoy staying busy.
- Communicate professionally with coworkers, vendors, and clients.
- Are eager to learn and continue building your skills.
Previous experience in a shop, industrial, construction, mechanical, agricultural, automotive, or similar environment is an asset. However, we're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn than someone who checks every box. If this role sounds like a good fit, we encourage you to apply.
