POSITION SUMMARY
CHEO offers its patients hotel-style food services. Room service at CHEO is very much like the room service you would find at any hotel.
The room service initiative has been well received by patients and their families and it has been a success story for the hospital. We are in the process of launching our patient ordering app in August.
In our retail locations we offer our own Crafted at CHEO brand for our induction style concept in our Cafeteria. Our second floor shop offers Mr Sub, Pizza Pizza and we proudly brew Starbucks coffee. As part of our retail umbrella we operate the Treehouse Gift Shop which offers wide array of Plush, Lego and other brands for our patients, families and staff.
As a Food Service Attendant at CHEO you be responsible for:
Preparation and handling of food items in accordance to department regulations
Preparation of formula feeds
Patient tray set up and assembly
Delivery and pick up trays to patient areas
Preparation and set up of catering functions
Cash and closing procedures
Operation of dish machine
Maintenance of safe and sanitary conditions in work areas
Work in retail locations (Mr Sub, Pizza Pizza, Starbucks)
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Criminal Record Check (Essential)
Grade 12 diploma (Essential)
Demonstrated initiative, team work and flexible work schedule (Essential)
Demonstrated skills in dealing with the public (Essential)
Demonstrated excellent communication skills (Essential)
Ability to work with minimal supervision (Essential)
Minimum 6 months experience in food service operation (Essential)
Physical strength sufficient to correspond to job requirements (Essential)
Ability to prioritize (Essential)
Bilingualism (English and French) (Preferred)
Successful completion of Food Handler Certification (Preferred)

Effective March 29, 2021, CHEO will conduct a more comprehensive pre-screening and evaluation process. This process may include more varied and multidimensional testing such as a written test, practical exam, or other assessment. All candidates who meet the essential and preferred qualifications may be tested.
Bilingualism (French/English) will be validated by a language proficiency assessment conducted by a third party provider. Candidates will be required to meet the minimum linguistic profile prior to the date of hire.
