Job Summary
The Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining brake press machinery to bend, shape, and form metal components according to engineering drawings and production specifications. The operator ensures all products meet quality standards while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and/or manual brake press machines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and gauges.
- Select appropriate tooling, dies, and machine settings for production runs.
- Perform machine adjustments to maintain product quality and tolerances.
- Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
- Ensure materials and finished products meet quality standards and specifications.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keep work area clean and organized in accordance with housekeeping standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors, welders, fabricators, and other production staff to meet production target
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 3 - 5 years experience operating brake press equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to use measuring instruments accurately.
- Basic math skills and understanding of measurements and tolerances.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience considered an asset.
