We are just finishing up an exciting renovation and expansion of our clinic, including the addition of a third exam lane and expanded diagnostic technology. As part of this growth, we are looking to welcome an Optometric Assistant to our team! - All days of the week, with a preference for including weekends.
Job Summary:
The Optometric Assistant helps the optometrist in the smooth running and delivery of eye health care services by performing clinical, administrative and customer service duties. This individual will enhance the quality, availability & accessibility of vision-related health care; promote independent & ethical decision-making; and practice to the highest standards of patient care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Office administration and patient reception.
- Performing administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments and referrals, filing insurance claims, performing bookkeeping, and managing clinical inventory.
- Obtaining patient histories and conducting preliminary diagnostic tests prior to the eye health examination.
- Maintain proper records and ensure patient privacy.
- Manage effective recall systems.
- Knowledgeable in store products, lens designs and frame manufacturers. Provide patients with ophthalmic frame and lens recommendations.
- Ensure all visitors to the store receive exceptional customer service in greeting, qualifying, selection, payment, delivery coordination, and post-delivery issue resolution.
- Resolve customer concerns and complaints in a courteous, timely and professional manner.
- Assist with training on the activities of clinical team members engaged in clinical care for patients under the supervision of the Clinical Lead.
- Assist with teaching new contact lens wearers under the supervision of the optometrist/optician on duty.
- Ad-hoc duties as assigned by leadership team
KEY SKILLS
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Google products (Docs, Sheets, etc) and ability to learn in-house computer programs and optical equipment.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 - 2 years of proven administrative and customer experience in a related environment
