POSITION:
Logistics Supervisor
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job safety is the first responsibility of every individual that is part of an operating team. Compliance with safety rules, operating procedures, and sound practices is the expectation for all personnel working in the Bakery. Product safety, legality and quality are essential responsibilities expected of every employee. Product safety is freeing the product of any contaminants like chemicals, allergens or foreign materials such as glass, wood or metal. Legality compliance is meeting regulatory requirements (Canada & US if intended for export) in terms of weight and declaration of ingredients. Product quality is meeting customers’ specifications and expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day to day activities on the distribution shift;
- Manage lines and employees effectively and resolve immediate issues;
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) and controls;
- Improve performance and productivity of distribution;
- Identify and drive objective and measurable cost saving initiative;
- Provide support to Six Sigma initiatives;
- Meet customer requirements by ensuring on time shipping;
- Provide accurate and timely reporting of distribution data; and
- Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP).
- Drive leadership coaching and development with hourly staff;
- Motivate, train, develop, coach, and front line employee employees;
- Manage collective agreement and labour relation issues;
- Responsible for ensuring all employees are aware of operating / safety procedures;
- Participating in the recruitment, selection and on boarding of new employees; and
- Support the quality control function in distribution.
- Maintain the safety of the department to ensure the team works in a “safety culture” environment; and
- Conduct monthly safety crew meeting.
- Conduct performance reviews yearly with hourly employees;
- Create development action plans for employees; and
- Use analytical skills to define, justify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Commitment to learn the sanitation functions to provide off hour management and support to department and its employees.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining product integrity; practicing highest levels of GMP’s and conforming to HACCP pre-requisite program and all associated SOP’s; and
- Follow Job Responsibilities as per Brand Reputation through Compliance Global standards (BRCGC) and other regulatory bodies.

WAGE:
CAD 65,000.00 to CAD 70,000.00 per annum based on a 40 hour work week. Eligibility for annual salary increase and performance based bonus

EDUCATION:
Post-Secondary Diploma
EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in distribution, shipping and receiving in the food processing or manufacturing industry inclusive of a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience;
- Demonstrated ability to create, deliver and monitor personal and subordinates developmental plans;
- Effective communication skills for training and leading associates;
- Proficient computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and problem-solving aptitude;
- Knowledge of health and safety standards, regulations, supervisory responsibilities and best practices;
- Demonstrated ability to schedule associates and production shifts within a multi-shift environment; and
- Excellent Communication, problem solving and organizational.
