Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Flatbed Owner Operator, to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight via flatbed trucks across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with safety regulations. This role requires a strong focus on safety, vehicle operation, and cargo handling, with opportunities to work with heavy equipment and perform automotive repairs as needed.
Duties
- Operate flatbed trucks to transport freight over long and short distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Secure loads properly using straps, chains, and other securing devices to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, identifying any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling of freight.
- Assist with forklift operation for loading and unloading cargo at warehouses or job sites.
- Conduct basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting on the truck to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in compliance with company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules or issues encountered during transit.
Experience
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Prior experience operating flatbed trucks preferred.
- Knowledge of freight handling, securing loads, and heavy equipment operation such as forklifts.
- Experience with automotive repair or troubleshooting is a plus.
- Familiarity with safety regulations related to commercial driving and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks and conduct safety inspections regularly.
