Lodge Maintenance with Churchill Wild at Seal River Heritage Lodge

About the Role:
Churchill Wild is looking for a hard-working, service oriented, adventure seeking individual, wanting to experience the wilderness and wildlife at its finest, at one of our remote fly-in lodges outside of Churchill. You will be responsible for all things related to maintaining a self-contained remote lodge.
Responsibilities:
· Repair and maintain vehicles used in the operation.
· Repair and maintain buildings and structures.
· Learn, understand and maintain solar power system.
· Ensure power, water and heating systems are functioning optimally.
· Replenish propane and water as needed.
· Cut and split firewood, maintain firewood stock.
Conditions of Employment:
· Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
· Must be able to read, write and communicate fluently in English.
· Must be able to work outdoors in various environmental conditions (snow, rain, wind).
· Must be physically capable or performing duties and functions of the job including working at heights, lifting heavy items, digging, loading and unloading planes, and other duties as called upon.
· Must be able to work longer hours if required to perform emergency repairs
Qualifications:
· Canadian Firearms Safety Course and valid PAL Firearms License.
· Extensive firearms handling experience and shooting time (range and/or field).
· Experience in the operation, service, repair, and maintenance of buildings and equipment, including solar power systems (solar battery/generator hybrids), water pumps, propane heaters, and more.
· Experience operating and servicing ATV’s, snowmobiles and tractors,
· Ability to work well within a team environment or independently
· Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize work, especially under pressure.
· Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion. Detail oriented.
Assets:
· Wilderness First Aid
· Remote lodge experience
· Any skilled trade or mechanic experience
· Education, training and/or experience in small motor repairs, motor vehicles, electrical, plumbing, sewage systems, power systems and more.
· Experience with solar power systems.
What we offer:
Starting at $6000/month with generous tips. Compensation is based on qualifications and experience.
As the only walking, ground-level polar bear safari company in the world, Churchill Wild offers a unique working environment. Working in a beautiful remote setting on the coast of the Hudson Bay, the opportunity to see polar bears, belugas and other wildlife exists daily. Meals (prepared by our chefs) and lodging provided along with air travel from Winnipeg to Churchill and the lodge.
