About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee the construction of a multi‑building, wood‑frame residential development. The successful candidate will manage day‑to‑day site operations, coordinate subtrades, maintain safety and quality standards, and ensure the project progresses on schedule and within budget.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge of residential wood‑frame construction, site servicing, concrete foundations and flatwork, and multi‑trade coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all on‑site construction activities for multiple low‑rise apartment buildings.
- Coordinate and schedule subtrades, suppliers, inspections, and deliveries.
- Oversee wood‑frame construction, including framing, building envelope, interior systems, and finishes.
- Manage site servicing activities such as water, sewer, storm, electrical, and civil works.
- Supervise concrete work including foundations, footings, slabs, and exterior flatwork.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code, municipal requirements, and project specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site in accordance with OHSA requirements.
- Conduct daily site reports, progress tracking, and issue logs.
- Identify and resolve site issues proactively to avoid delays.
- Work closely with the project manager, consultants, and inspectors to maintain alignment on schedule and quality.
- Lead site meetings and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
- Monitor workmanship and enforce quality control standards throughout all phases of construction.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Site Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent in residential construction.
- Strong understanding of wood‑frame construction, site servicing, and concrete work.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple subtrades on active construction sites.
- Solid knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and construction best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with daily reporting tools and basic construction management software.
- Valid driver’s licence; ability to work on site full‑time.
- Health & Safety certifications (WHMIS, Working at Heights) considered an asset.
