The Opportunity
The Student Food Service Worker serves high quality, nutritious meals to our residents. Working both independently and as part of a team, the Student Food Service Worker must ensure that each resident achieves their individual nutritional requirements as outlined by the medical staff. This position must ensure compliance with the dietary services section of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Facilities Program.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Prepare the dining room for meals.
· Plate and serve meals to residents.
· Work closely with all members of the interdisciplinary care team to address resident’s nutrition and hydration needs and to create a pleasurable dining experience.
· Use Kardex daily to ensure they are in compliance with the regulations of the MOHLTC providing residents’ diet, special needs and food/beverage preferences.
· Perform dishware washing duties.
· Maintain a clean and sanitized work area.
· Prepare nourishment cart.
· Other duties as required.
The Ideal Candidate
· Currently enrolled in high school or a post-secondary school program.
· Safe Food Handling Certificate and commitment to maintain/renew based on Public Health’s requirements.
· Documentation indicating that you have received all appropriate immunizations, including administration of an annual influenza vaccine and a recent TB skin test which indicates that you are able to perform the essential duties of the position without harm to yourself or risk of harm to others.
· Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record check required for individuals over 18 years of age.
· Mature, responsible and organized individual capable of performing duties as assigned.
· Able to work independently and part of a team.
· Must be able to work evenings, public holidays and every other weekend as required.
· Capable of reading and writing English.
Hours: Able to work shifts – Evenings, Weekends and Public Holidays
