We are currently seeking an experienced and highly organized Dispatcher to join our team at our Rocky View County, Alberta office.
The ideal candidate will have previous transportation dispatch experience, strong knowledge of TMS software, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced transportation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch drivers according to daily operational and customer requirements.
- Plan and assign loads while ensuring efficient utilization of drivers and equipment.
- Monitor driver availability and coordinate daily and upcoming dispatch schedules.
- Track loads, pick-ups, deliveries, and driver progress throughout the day.
- Maintain regular communication with drivers regarding load assignments, schedules, routes, and operational changes.
- Enter, update, and maintain accurate load and dispatch information in the TMS software.
- Coordinate with customers, drivers, and internal departments to ensure timely pick-ups and deliveries.
- Monitor driver Hours of Service (HOS) and availability when planning and assigning loads.
- Respond quickly to delays, breakdowns, missed appointments, schedule changes, and other operational issues.
- Provide timely and accurate shipment updates to customers and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records, trip information, and required documentation.
- Assist with route planning and ensure customer deadlines and delivery requirements are met.
- Communicate operational issues clearly and escalate concerns when required.
- Support smooth day-to-day transportation operations while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, or dispatch operations is preferred.
- Experience using TMS (Transportation Management System) software is preferred.
- Strong understanding of dispatch operations, load planning, driver coordination, and shipment tracking.
- Knowledge of Hours of Service (HOS) and transportation regulations would be considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
- Reliable, punctual, proactive, and detail-oriented.
