Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Hydrovac Operator to join our construction and excavation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating hydrovac trucks to safely and efficiently excavate around utilities, foundations, and other underground structures. This role requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation, mechanical systems, and construction site safety protocols. The Hydrovac Operator plays a critical role in ensuring project accuracy and safety while maintaining productivity on various job sites.
Duties
- Operate hydrovac trucks with precision to excavate soil and debris around sensitive underground utilities and structures
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of hydrovac equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of work zones, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Coordinate with team members to execute excavation plans efficiently while adhering to project timelines
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues promptly and effectively
- Support other construction activities including horizontal drilling.
- Maintain clear communication with supervisors regarding progress, safety concerns, or equipment needs
Experience
- Familiarity with hydrovac truck operation is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Experience in commercial driving and safe operation of heavy vehicles is highly desirable
- Knowledge of construction site safety protocols and best practices for excavation work
- Prior experience with horizontal drilling or similar underground utility installation projects is a plus
