Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Manager or designate, this position ensures every meal is prepared expertly in a safe and timely manner. Cooks receive orders and special instructions from the Server. They prepare meals in accordance to set recipes, keeping a clean and safe workspace at all times. They stock supplies and food items, record waste and items that need to be ordered.
Responsibilities (includes but is not limited to):
· Prepare meals for established menu items. Prep food (ie hand cut fries, home made burgers and soups), stock line ingredients and keep area clean at all times.
· Consult with Food & Beverage Manager on new recipe ideas and menus for special events.
· Remain calm and in control when events such as multiple orders occur.
· Maintain awareness of environment and safety around equipment/appliances.
· Be able to work independently at times and assist with dishes and deliveries.
· Understand and respond to customer inquiries regarding menu items, promotions, and any other product or service offered at Chances Cowichan.
· Immediately see to potential safety hazards and report as necessary.
· Undertake other tasks and housekeeping duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
· Exceptional team building and resolution skills.
· Excellent communication skills and ability to speak courteously in any situation.
· Formal training or experience with a current Food Safe certificate (preferred).
· Ability to follow specific instructions.
· Able to stand for long periods of time in a noisy environment and able to lift up to 50lbs (22kg).
· Understand policies and procedures and ability to follow through.
Be able to understand customer needs including access to responsible gambling information.
· Must be able to pass a background check.
· Current Serving it Right will be required.
· Must be legally able to work in Canada and live reasonably within commuting distance.
