Loom Operator Job Description
Wave Fibre Mill offers custom fibre milling and processing services for Canadian fleece farmers. Its vintage machinery is capable of fine fibre processing, and high-volume capacity. We also produce fabric for our own clothing and accessory line, as well as for small designers.
We currently have an opening for a Loom Operator at our mill. Previous experience with mill equipment is not a requirement; in-house training will be provided.
Location: Seguin Ontario, at the Parry Sound Municipal Airport
Responsibilities:
- Wool & fibre handling, sorting, grading, washing
- Wool & fibre mill machinery operation and maintenance
- Operation of looms, knitting machines and natural dying all possible
- Liaise with farmers and the public as required
- Work with others and independently as required
- Perform other mill operations as required
- Able to lift/bend/stretch and work in a mill environment
- Able to work around animal fibre, machine grease, oils and soaps etc.
- Able to work around machine grease, oils and soaps
Qualifications:
- Possess high mechanical aptitude
- Fibre and spinning/ weaving equipment experience an asset, but not required
- Industrial/factory experience an asset, but not required
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Must have basic math skills
- Comfortable with operating large equipment
- Must be able to work legally in Canada and must reside in Northern Ontario
Salary: $20.00/hr to start
