Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, organized and creative Programmer to develop, coordinate and facilitate engaging programs and activities for individuals with disabilities. The Programmer will create opportunities that enhance life skills, social connections, recreation, health, wellness and community inclusion while ensuring programming meets the diverse needs and goals of participants.
Responsibilities
- Plan, Develop implement and evaluate recreational, educational and life- skills programs.
- Design activities that promote independence, personal growth, social inclusion and community engagement.
- Coordinate community outing, special events and volunteer opportunities.
- Adapt programming to meet individual abilities, interests and support needs.
- Collaborate and support staff, families, guardians, community partners and government agencies .
- Maintain program schedules, activity calendars and participant records.
- Monitor participant engagement and make program improvements based on feedback.
- Ensure activity complies with organizational policies and health and safety standards.
- Assist with budgeting, purchasing program supplies and maintaining supplies.
- Support staff by providing resources, guidance and training related to programming.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Social Services/ Human Services or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2- 5 years of experience supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Have a good understanding of program plans and implementation of Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creative, flexible and passionate about developing meaningful programming.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Valid class 5 drivers license with and acceptable drivers abstract.
- Current first aid & CPR certification ( or willingness to obtain).
- Clean Criminal Record check and Vulnerable Sector check.
