Registered Practical Nurse, Part-Time to Full-Time (Consideration)

Noongwa Wellness is a newly established Indigenous Primary Health Care organization rooted in community, culture, and wholistic wellness. We are seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team to provide exceptional clinical care and clinical administrative functions to support the delivery of high quality culturally safe person-centred care. This position is ideal for someone energized by clinic start up, relational care, and working collaboratively across organizations. This role combines clinical expertise with leadership in shaping workflows, fostering collaboration, and advancing Indigenous models of self determined care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
− Deliver client care within full RPN scope (including medical directives), triaging, assessing, and supporting clients across the life span.
Assessment:
- Assist with client care and clinic flow, including new client intake, history, vital signs, preventative screening, accurate charting and documentation in the EMR, and support for exams/procedures
- Triage client calls, provide guidance, schedule appointments, or escalate to providers as appropriate.
Treatment:
- Assist with and/or perform medical procedures (e.g. phlebotomy, immunization, dressing changes, suture removals, etc.)
- Administer medications as prescribed according to policies and protocols
- Coordinate follow-up on labs, diagnostics, and specialist referrals in collaboration with the Medical Administrator
- Provide nursing care and treatment as required.
Education, advocacy:
- Works with clients, and engages with other services, in a manner that is mindful of the whole person/community /social determinants of health
- Answer calls and inquiries and ensure that a satisfactory answer is given to clients; handle telephone inquiries for medical, pharmaceutical and health information as needed
Clinical Operations:
- Uphold cultural humility by supporting culturally safe, trauma-informed, and relational care practices
- Ensure safe practice by maintaining infection control protocols, organizing medical supplies, and supporting clinic flow
- Maintain EMR-based registries and support preventative care tracking (e.g., cancer screening, diabetes, immunizations) in alignment with provincial guidelines
- Additional duties as appropriate in growing wholistic primary health team setting.
QUALIFICATIONS
− Graduate of an accredited Registered Practical Nursing program, with skills defined by full scope of practice, in good standing, in the Province of Ontario with Professional Liability Protection
− Experience with electronic health care records (e.g., Telus PS)
- Comfortable working independently, while collaborating with other health care professionals and community support services
− Demonstrated cultural awareness and commitment to confidentiality, cultural safety, including openness to ongoing learning
− Clean and current criminal record and vulnerable sector check
− Current BCLS certification
− Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation required.
