Responsibilities
- Oversee environmental services operations, including housekeeping and laundry functions, to ensure safe, high-quality service delivery aligned with organizational standards and care expectations
- Provide leadership to Environmental Services Assistants, including supervision, scheduling, performance management, and staff development
- Coordinate, plan, and evaluate daily service delivery to ensure efficient and effective operations across housekeeping, laundry, and linen services
- Maintain strong infection prevention and control practices across all environmental services activities
- Collaborate with maintenance and preventative maintenance teams to support upkeep, functionality, and overall condition of the facility, equipment, and furnishings
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure smooth, safe, and coordinated service delivery to residents, staff, and visitors
- Lead and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives, operational planning, and service enhancements
- Participate in strategic planning activities and support long-term operational and capital planning initiatives
- Manage supplier relationships, including service contract oversight and coordination of procurement activities
- Oversee inventory management and storage of supplies, equipment, and emergency/pandemic materials
- Support budgeting processes and contribute to financial and administrative oversight of departmental operations
- Develop and implement operational projects, service improvements, innovations, and pilot initiatives
- Support risk management activities, including emergency preparedness, disaster response, and business continuity planning
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and operational standards
- Coordinate program planning related to maintenance and preventative maintenance support functions
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in environmental services leadership/management, facilities management, environmental systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Ontario Hospital Association Environmental Services Leadership course is an asset
- Minimum 3 years of environmental services experience, ideally in a healthcare environment
- Supervisory experience in a unionized, interdisciplinary team setting with demonstrated leadership and mentorship ability
- Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver on time, on budget, and to quality standards
- Strong people management skills focused on staff development, wellness, and teamwork
- Knowledge of WHMIS/GHS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- Strong communication, time management, budgeting, and contract management skills
- Ability to manage change with flexibility, innovation, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of applicable healthcare legislation, including the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, is an asset
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
Schedule: Mon to Fri (8:30 am to 4:30 pm)
Length of contract: This is a 6-month temporary contract position with the possibility of extension.
Pay Rate *: $38 –$47 per hour (based on experience)
*The hourly rate outlined reflects our anticipated compensation for this role; however, total compensation remains flexible and will be aligned with the successful candidate’s background, leadership experience, and overall suitability.
