One of our client is seeking an experienced Carpenter Crew Foreman to lead a small team in the construction of high-quality wood and composite decks and fences. The ideal candidate is a skilled carpenter with leadership experience, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and workmanship.
A company vehicle will be provided for travel to and from job sites.
Responsibilities
Frame and finish wood and composite decks according to plans and specifications
Read and interpret permit drawings and construction plans
Lead and supervise a crew of 1–3 carpenters/labourers
Train team members on proper construction techniques and safety procedures
Coordinate with the project manager to ensure projects are completed on time and
within budget
Follow all workplace safety standards and industry best practices
Maintain clean and organized job sites
Assist with equipment and vehicle maintenance as required
Use construction tools and equipment safely and efficiently
Dig post holes and footings when necessary (machinery used for most excavations)
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of carpentry and framing experience
At least 2 years of experience building decks
Ability to manage projects from layout to completion
Experience constructing stairs, determining elevations, and reading plans
Strong knowledge of building codes and construction methods
Previous leadership or crew management experience
Valid G Driver’s Licence
Steel-toed safety boots
Assets
Experience with composite decking products such as Trex
First Aid certification
WHMIS certification
Working at Heights certification
Additional construction safety certifications
Working Conditions
Outdoor work in various weather conditions
Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs
Standing, walking, bending, and climbing for extended periods
Comfortable working at heights and using ladders
Schedule
Monday to Friday
8–10 hour shifts
Full-time hours
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
