Job Title: Casual Driver – in-town and Medical Transports

Starting Wage: $18/hour
Position Overview:
Dauphin & District Handivan is seeking a dependable and compassionate Casual Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for medical trips in and out of Dauphin. This position involves assisting both wheelchair and ambulatory clients, ensuring comfort, dignity, and timely service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Handivan vehicles to transport clients to and from medical appointments.
- Assist wheelchair and ambulatory passengers with boarding, securing mobility devices, and exiting the vehicle.
- Provide courteous, respectful, and compassionate customer service at all times.
- Follow established routes, schedules, and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized vehicle.
- Complete trip reports and documentation as required.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and staff regarding schedules, client needs, and any concerns.
- Ability to multitask and follow the direction of the Manager/ dispatcher
Qualifications:
- A clean and safe driving record (driver’s abstract required).
- Demonstrated dependability and punctuality.
- Compassionate attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assist passengers with mobility challenges safely and respectfully.
- Experience working with seniors or persons with disabilities is an asset.
- Availability to work on a casual or on-call basis.
- Clear Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Check).
- Clear Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
