Job Title: Baker
Report to: BOH Supervisor
Job Purpose or Summary Statement
The Baker runs a full day’s baking production from start (mixing) to finish (baking) and is responsible for the preparation of all baked goods.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and bakes menu items according to the company’s recipes and standards
- Safely handles and operates equipment such as utensils, mixers, ovens, and pots and pans
- Complies with prescribed health and safety procedures while executing assigned tasks
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment including removal of waste from bakery area
- Updates inventory records of food and supplies for relevant areas of production
- Maintains supply storage room for production of baked goods
- Performs other additional duties as assigned
Skills
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Specialized knowledge
- Knowledge of the types and grades of ingredients used in general pastry and bread baking
- Knowledge of methods and equipment used in baking

- Attention to detail: to ensure recipes are meticulously followed to deliver consistent results
- Communication skills: to communicate with restaurant employees, management, and customers
- Customer service skills: use a positive attitude to assist and service customers
- Time management and organizational skills: to self-direct performance and fulfill assigned duties

- Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations and multitask
- Strong command of English, both verbal and written
Experience
- Experience in commercial baking, storing and keeping inventory of baked goods an asset
Certifications
- Food and Safety Certification an asset
Working Conditions
- Rotating shifts scheduled around and during the restaurant’s hours of operation including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
- Working under conditions of high temperatures
- Fast-paced environment
