Our Downtown client in mining is seeking a Senior Accountant with a focus on financial reporting for their growing team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing key financial reporting and month-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and analyses of the balance sheet, cash flow, and profit and loss statements. The position also supports monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation reporting, consolidation entries, and group consolidation working papers. In addition, the role provides IFRS guidance for new or complex transactions, prepares related accounting memos, supports annual Canadian tax return preparation, coordinates with external auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers, and assists with other financial reporting duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
The ideal Senior Accountant will have a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field, along with a Canadian CPA designation. Candidates should bring either at least five years of accounting experience within a mining company or a minimum of three years in public accounting. Strong Excel skills and excellent written and verbal communication abilities are required. Experience working with public companies is requisite while mining industry experience and Spanish language skills would be considered strong assets.
