We are expanding our services and seeking a Psychiatrist to join our team to provide psychiatric assessment, diagnostic consultation, and ongoing treatment planning for both routine and complex cases.
Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatrist who is committed to improving patient outcomes through comprehensive mental‑health evaluation and treatment. The ideal candidate will provide expert diagnostic assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated psychiatric care.
Experience working with high‑acuity psychiatric presentations is highly valued. This role requires strong clinical judgment, proficiency in medical terminology, and comfort with data collection to support quality improvement and evidence‑based practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments for patients across various age groups.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and therapeutic recommendations.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment strategies to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, Nurse Practitioners, and primary care providers to coordinate care.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with CPSO standards.
- Educate patients and families about mental‑health conditions, treatment options, and long‑term care strategies.
- Participate in case conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings as needed.
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric practice and incorporate evidence‑based approaches into patient care.
- Contribute to data collection for clinical research or quality‑improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- MD with specialization in Psychiatry.
- Active registration and good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Experience working with patients in psychiatric or clinical settings (preferred).
- Strong background in patient‑centred care with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in medical terminology relevant to psychiatric diagnosis and treatment.
- Experience with data collection for clinical research or quality‑improvement initiatives (asset).
- Comfort with virtual care platforms and remote assessment.
- Interest in neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD, is an asset.
- Experience with OHIP billing.
